In the Spirit

for what it is worth,

i only broke one ornament 

while decorating the tree

and i thought i saw you there in the shards

and that seemed to fit the scene much better

then what else is left of you.

I swept the mess into a dustpan

and let the pieces fall into the garbage bin

on top of the numerous recites 

that im sure

absorbed your attention

long ago.
